All our work is centred on giving offenders a chance to change.....
....and the vulnerable a way to avoid offending.
We have service level agreements with:
The National Probation Service: Dyfed-Powys Area
Powys Youth Offending Service
Powys County Council: Peoples’ Services
Powys County Council: Social Inclusion Unit
Employment Services: New Deal Scheme - in partnership with S.O.V.A.
We accept referrals from these statutory bodies of suitable clients who are offered the help
of a volunteer for their particular needs. Our staff manage the Referral Order scheme for the Youth Offending Service.
Our volunteers may provide help with finding accommodation and work, including writing CVs and passing a written driving test.
There is debt counselling and activities such as life skills in cooking, budgeting and parenting skills.
Many clients have problems with literacy and numeracy and the long term help and encouragement from an accredited volunteer is invaluable.
Our volunteers provide transport - much needed in a sparsely populated rural area where many facilities are far away.
They drive clients to court, to see probation officers, for medical appointments or to a rehabilitation clinic and they take visitors to prison.
Whilst travelling they are there to listen and reassure.
Volunteers may act as Appropriate Adults to accompany young people being interviewed by the Police who have no parent
or suitable family member to be present or for adults with mental health problems.
At all times the volunteers have the support and advice of a Project Manager who is a member of staff.
